Taught in the Chan tradition, which is more commonly known by its Japanese name, Zen, this class will provide an introduction to relaxation and breathing methods to improve your focusing power. Based on the instructions by Chan Master Sheng Yen, the teacher, Iris Wang, will explain how to use meditation to benefit your body and mind.
This full-day class will be conducted in two parts (see detail schedule below), participants are welcome to join any one of them, but are encourage to join both for a more comprehensive course.
Ms. Iris Wang started to practice meditation with Chan Master Sheng Yen since 1992. She has participated in ten intensive meditation retreats with Master Sheng Yen at the Dharma Drum Retreat Center in New York and four Dharma retreats at the Bodhi Monastery in New Jersey. Iris became certified as a meditation teacher in 2003 and has since taught meditation at Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association Chicago Chapter.

- A vegetarian lunch will be provided for participant who is attending both Part 1 and 2 of the class. Please let us know of any specific dietary needs in the “Comment” field provided on the registration form. Lunch is only guaranteed for participants who register on or before Oct. 11th, 2017.
- Shoes are not allowed within the meditation area. For your comfort, we recommend clean socks and loose clothing in layers.
