Taught in Chan tradition (Chinese ‘Zen’), this class will provide an introduction to relaxation and breathing methods to improve your focusing power. Based on the instructions by Chan Master Sheng Yen, the teacher, Iris Wang*, will explain how to use meditation to benefit your body and mind.
The class will start with eight forms of Chan Movement, followed by lecture on basic daily meditation practice, meditation tools, postures, methods and the theory behind Chan meditation.
Class will be taught in English.
About Meditation Instructor
Ms. Iris Wang started to practice meditation with Chan Master Sheng Yen since 1992. She has participated in ten intensive meditation retreats with Master Sheng Yen at the Dharma Drum Retreat Center in New York and four Dharma retreats at the Bodhi Monastery in New Jersey. Iris became certified as a meditation teacher in 2003 and has since taught meditation at Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association Chicago Chapter.
